Philip’s work is designed for gardens and outdoor spaces. Simple understated form where colour and texture work together with changing weather patterns to create a permanent sculptural statement.
The work is intended to be fresh, honest and very beautiful and the craftsmanship follows the ancient traditions of early African potters who employed the freehand coiling technique to achieve near perfect symmetry.
Philip graduated from Loughborough Collage of Art and Design in 1988 with a 2.1 honours degree in Ceramics. After teaching Design & Technology, Art and IT in secondary schools for 7 years, he set up The Laurels Pottery, Wiltshire in 2000. His hand coiled pots feature in over 90 collections around the world and he has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show Award for Outstanding Presentation in 2001 & 2003.
